Name of Tourist Attraction: Băluța Cave

Location: The cave is located in Băluţa village, on the Băluţei Canyon, located within Ponoarele commune from Mehedinţi County. Băluţa village is 69 km away from Drobeta Turnu Severin, on the way to Baia de Aramă.

Description: It is a cave formed of galleries that are developed on two floors, one of the floor being flooded almost all the time. The second floor is a fossil one with different karst formations and is linked to the first one by intersections of galleries and wells. With a length of 248 m, the cave is considered to be the largest one penetrating the karst cavity belonging to the oriental carst. It is an almost active resurgence, located near the Rîieni valley.

Conditions: The cave can be easily reached, especially during periods of drought, but requires minimal protection equipment (appropriate clothing, boots and helmet) and light sources.
