Thematic Route: The Hiking Route

Name of the Touristic Attraction: “Isverna – Cănicea – Stoienilor Valley – La Străji – Izvorul lui Vuc – Faţa Izvoarelor – Izvorul Alb Tableland – Crovul Mare Saddle” Trail. The route continues through Crovul Mare and Foeroaga Mare to Cerna Valley.

Location: in Mehedinți County. The access to the route is made from Drobeta Turnu Severin or Baia de Aramă on DJ670 and then on DC50 to Isverna, then about 2 km to the exit of Cănicea Village.

Description: The route starts from Cănicea Village towards Stoiani Valley and climbs among the houses and gardens. Until the peak called “La Straje” the road climbs up on a slope with ravines. From here he crosses a pine forest, passes  Vuc’s Spring and goes out into Faţa Izvoarelor slopes. The route leaves the road that continues on the level curve and climbs diagonally to the right, aiming at the tip of the cliff on the right. The trail enters the forest, crosses a rocky area and enters a valley above the White Spring (Romanian-Izvorul Alb). The route climbs the forested valley, goes out into a clearing and climbs to the main ridge in the valley from which it descends to Crovul Mare, Foeroga Mare and Cerna Valley.

             – difficulty grade: medium

             -conditions of access: not recommended during winter

             – equipment: common for mountain hiking
