The Pro-Mehedinți Association is implementing the project “Measures to revitalize the fishing sector” between 22.04.2021 and 21.04.2023, code MySmis 2014+ 145034. The project, worth 1,023,607.06 lei, of which the EMFF co-financing is 690,934.76 lei, is financed through the Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Operational Program, MEASURE 1 – CONTRIBUTION TO ADDED VALUE IN THE FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE SECTOR – CALL 5 within the framework of the implementation of the local development strategy of the Association of the South West Danube Local Fishing Group.
The general objective of the project is to contribute to the enhancement and capitalization of the environmental assets of the fishing and aquaculture areas on the territory of the DSV FLAG through activities of: assessment of the ichthyofauna in the Southwest Danube FLAG fishing area in order to identify and increase the market potential of the exploited species, development of a marketing strategy to promote fishery products and public meetings with the fishing community in order to disseminate the identified measures and to transmit the proposed solutions for the sustainable exploitation of local fishing resources or with fishing potential.
Specific objectives of the project:
– Evaluation of the ichthyofauna in the Southwest Danube FLAG fishing area in order to identify and increase the market potential of exploited or non-exploited species
– Development of a marketing strategy for the promotion of fishery products
– Public meetings with the fishing community in order to disseminate the identified measures and transmit the proposed solutions
The direct beneficiary is represented by the entire community of the Southwest Danube FLAG eligible territory (HINOVA Commune, DEVESEL Commune, BURILA MARE Commune, GOGOŞU Commune, GRUIA Commune, PRISTOL Commune, GÎRLA MARE Commune, VRATA Commune) and the indirect beneficiary is represented by all fish consumers and recreational-sport fishing practitioners.
Through the actions carried out, the project will have a positive influence on the way the territory develops both from the point of view of the support given to the fishing area and from an economic point of view. In addition, by creating jobs, the project offers the possibility of diversifying the income of local communities.
