Situated in the center of Plateau Mehedinți, Godeanu Village is a tourist attraction for people visiting the north part of the country, mainly due to the peculiarities of the reief to which is added the climate, hydrographic network and fauna.
The most interesting attractions of the village are karst landforms represented by ditches sinkholes, valley, poles, keys and especially the caves. Due to the existence of the Gratet Fortress, in the south of the Paunești Village, dating from Dacian time and of Topolnița Monastery Hermitage , this community is frequently visited by tourists, especially in summer.
Topolnița Valley offers mountain landscapes similar to those with gorges and steep slopes, covered with Mediterranean vegetation, with numerous unforgetable landscapes. Topolnița cave located in the west side of Marga village, known by locals under the name Prosac Cave, has a length of 13 km, being the second largest cave in the country.
The customs and traditions of people are a phenomenon quite different from other surrounding localities, such as sheep measurement, made every spring in every village of the commune. Another feature of this area are „Nedeile”- that has the same characters as in other areas, but appears „ciumarca”, which is set on Fridays that people have dedicated to this plague that has haunted these lands. Each village has oat least 2-3 feasts of this kind, per year.
