MANUAL WEAVING AND STITCHING WORKSHOP

In Ponoarele Village you can find the only manual weaving and stitching workshop from the entire Mehedinți County. Oana Pirvan is a young lady from Ponoarele who doesn’t want to forget this ancestral tradition.

In this regard, Oana Pirvan founded, in February 2010 the company „ Needle and Thread” whose main activity is making traditional folk costumes from Oltenia and other handicraft products by manual labor at the classic loom,  with which she participated in numerous national and international fairs. Also, here you can order any model of traditional costume from any county. The company representatives want to set up some sale points nearby Mehedinți County: in Drobeta Turnu Severin, Craiova, Târgu Jiu, Râmnicu Vâlcea and Băile Herculane.

Due to increased demand, Oana wants to established similar centers in other regions of Romania and Europe.

Also, clothes and handicrafts products made in Ponoarele workshop such as: romanian traditional blouse (ie), oprege or ciupegele can also be found in stores belonging to museums or specilaizes centers for promoting folk art tradition.
