Opis: <\/strong>Drobeta Thermae are considered to be the most complex thermal installations encountered in Lower Dacia. Today, less than half of the ruins of these terms can still be seen. Historical data claim that they were used both by soldiers stationed in the Drobeta Camp and by the civilian population. The thermae were originally built by the Legion V Macedonian soldiers together with the Roman camp, and at the beginning of the 3rd century they were restored and “upgraded” by a detachment of the Cohort I Sagittariorum, led by Aurelius Mercurius, magister in Figlinis – master bricklayer. In addition to the usual facilities of a thermae such as the “PRAEFURNIUM” fire room, the \u201cLACONICUM\u201d steam room, the “CALDARIUM” bath room, the cold water room, the “FRIGIDARIUM” and others, in the north part the building was equipped with reading rooms and a space for exercises and sports competitions called “PALESTRA”.<\/p>\n
