{"id":793,"date":"2018-01-30T11:35:54","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T11:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/promehedinti.ro\/?p=793"},"modified":"2018-11-16T13:57:35","modified_gmt":"2018-11-16T10:57:35","slug":"biserica-din-svinita","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/promehedinti.ro\/en\/biserica-din-svinita\/","title":{"rendered":"The Church from Svini\u021ba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The church from Svini\u021ba Village, Mehedin\u021bi County is an Serbian Orthodox Church, old style one.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The church construction began in 1983 and was completed 10 years later, in 1992. On 27<sup>th<\/sup> of October 1992, in the presence of seven priests headed by bishop Sava from Sumadia, Timi\u0219oara, the church was consecrated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and that\u2019s why nearly half of the families from Svini\u021ba celebrate Saint Nicholas in their families.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ancient village church that was flooded and then demolished was also dedicated to Saint Nicholas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The paintings, icons and some of the furniture had been recovered and moved to the new church.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Between 1994-1996, the inside of the church was painted by Bofanu Mihai, a painter from Oravi\u021ba.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The church is the property of the Svini\u021ba Community which has about 1000 parishioners.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Martinovici Jiva serves in this church for over 40 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Currently the church is painted inside and outside, the courtyard is stacked with layers of flowers and green grass.
