With an area of \u200b\u200b637,99 square kilometers, 100 km length the right bank of the Danube, spread from Golubac to Karatas near Kladovo, the Park includes zones with different regime of protection for the nature elements, cultural monuments, fauna and vegetation of relict species, confirming the development of vegetation series since the creation up to the present day. National Park Djerdap is also called river national park, since the Danube makes a significant part of Djerdap, and the largest and longest gorge in Europe, the amazing Iron Gate is called wild botanical garden and the largest European archaeological museum in nature.Djerdap gorge and the natural area along the gorge, as a spatial entity with exceptional cultural and historical values, significant natural ecosystems in composition of exceptional value and rarity, objects of flora and fauna and the well-preserved forests of exceptional appearance, have been protected as a national park Djerdapsince 1974. PC \u201cNational Park Djerdap\u201d manages the special hunting ground \u201cDjerdap\u201d.The decision on the establishment of hunting ground in the National Park Djerdap was adopted on 7th<\/sup>July 1990 at the sessions of the Council of Associated Labor and the Council of Municipalities of the Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Serbia (\u201cOfficial Gazette of RS\u201d, No. 46\/90).The ground covers an area of 63.608,45ha.Forests and forest land cover an area of 40.972,80ha (64.4% of the total area), meadows and pastures 6.336,5ha (9.97%), arable land 3.224,83ha (5.07%), orchards and vineyards is 1.224,34 ha (2.10%) and marshes and ponds 32,5ha (0.05%). The Danube water-flow is 5.882,01ha(9,25% of the total areaof the hunting ground).Rugged land covers an area of 2.000,00 ha, i.e. 3,14% of the total area. Total hunting area is 57.782,98 ha or 93,98% of the total area of hunting ground. Special purpose hunting ground \u201cDjerdap\u201d is of hilly-mountainous type. The user of the hunting ground manages an impressive population of deer, small population of chamois, roe deer and wild boars whose number is constantly growing.In addition to bred species of wildlife, the hunting ground also includes a fairly large population of wolves, jackals, foxes, wild cats, as well as strictly protected speciesincluding the brown bear and lynx.
