Thematic Route: <\/strong>The Hiking Route<\/p>\n

Name of the Touristic Attraction: <\/strong>The Touristic Trail ,,St. Peter\u2019s Cross”<\/p>\n

Location: <\/strong>in Mehedin\u021bi County. <\/strong>The access on the route is made from the national road E70, on the communal road crossing Gura V\u0103ii, at approx. 50 m from the railway bridge.<\/p>\n

Description: <\/strong>It is a touristic route made of natural elements but also of special attractions due to its opening to the Danube and to the Iron Gates Dam. It is a path of woody vegetation, namely of \u201cCarpen\u201d (Carpinus betulus)<\/em> Forest , Gorun (Quercus petraea<\/em>) Forest and Linden Forest. There are also Mediterranean vegetation elements such as \u201cc\u0103rpini\u0163a\u201d (carpinus orientalis) or the thorn. The slopes coming from the Danube River are covered with numerous lilac shrubs. From the Cross Hill you can admire the Iron Gates I Hydropower and Navigation System. The occupations of the local people here are various: agricultural crops, shepherding, fishing, hunting, silkworm growing, milling, woodworking, handicrafts and textiles, etc. Tourists are greeted here with cow, sheep and goat milk.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 – degree of difficulty: medium<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 – requires good physical condition (resistance to physical effort)<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 – marked with a blue vertical band on a white background<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 – depending on the season, it is recommended:<\/p>\n

  1. Equipping with boots and waterproof clothing<\/li>\n
  2. Endowment with at least one bottle of 1 liter of water per person and a support stick<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    – for this route, the tourists must be accompanied by the rangers of the Iron Gates Natural Park as well as for all the routes, because here are natural elements of invaluable value for the Romanian as well as for the European geology, flora and fauna.<\/p>\n
