Description:<\/strong> The cave is on the second place in terms of length, in Romania, and occupies the 16th place in the world. It has a total length of 24.5 km, of which only 11 km are exploited and is located near Cire\u015fu village, in Mehedin\u0163i Plateau. The cave is spread on 4 levels, two fossils, a sub-fossil and an active one and has 5 openings, namely: Gura Prosacului (Prosacu\u2019s Mouth), which is 67m high, Gura lui Cioc\u00e2rlie (Cioc\u00e2rlie\u2019s Mouth), Pestera Femeii (Women Cave) and the two openings from G\u0103urin\u0163i. Here you can see cyclone cliffs, stalagmite forests and even a mineral delta as well as stunning precipices. The most famous gallery of the cave is the “Emil Racovi\u021b\u0103” gallery, being one of the most spectacular cave galleries in the country. Inside the cave the temperature is between 8,2 and 10,8 degrees Celsius, but the currents in the cave are fully felt due to the 5 openings. The existence of the huge speleoterms, the giant cavern, the underground water stream, the underground fauna and the bats colony make Topolni\u021ba Cave an unique and valuable one. The cave is closed for tourists and can only be visited with the approval of the Speleological Heritage Commission of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests<\/em>. It is a gigantic, insufficiently exploited, compound, sub-horizontal type, developed on a diaclase and fracture system. Inside the cave there are three sectors connected to each other: the Women’s Cave sector, the Sohodol sector (or G\u0103urin\u0163i) and the Topolni\u021ba cave itself. There are three large galleries in the sector: Racovi\u021b\u0103, Murgoci and Prosac. The Women’s Sector is made up of several corridors: Bats, Columns, Straight and Hearths. The Topolni\u021ba sector is a sector consisting of a network of corridor and halls: Guano Hall, C.N. Ionescu, The Corridor between the Rooms, The Great Hall, The Corridor of the Giants, The Priori Corridor, Emil Racovita Gallery. The entrance in the cave is possible through a gallery of 450 m long or a suitor (vertical wall), about 90 m difference in level, equipped with elevators. At the opening of the cave there grows the variegated tulip (Fritillaria montana), considered a monument of nature.<\/p>\n

Legend\/ Story\/ Impressions\/ Recommendations:<\/strong> Topolnita Cave appears for the first time mentioned in the historical documents in 1880. It appears under the name of Marga’s Tunnel. It is given this name by researcher V. Dumitrescu, who stated that it is the longest cave in the country and the 17th largest in the world. It was only exploited in 1956 by Sever Popescu who discovered the so-called otter couch.<\/p>\n

Conditions: <\/strong>The cave can only be visited once a year, a few hours, when a field feast is taking place. For the rest of the year it can only be visited with the approval of the Speleological Heritage Commission of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests.<\/em><\/p>\n

The visit is only possible under the supervision of speleologists and an emergency team<\/p>\n
