Location<\/strong>: in Mehedinti County. Gruia Commune is 52 km away from Drobeta Turnu Severin, on the way to Calafat. The commune can be reached from Drobeta Turnu Severin, on DC562A to Gruia.<\/p>\n

Legend \/ Story \/ Impressions \/ Recommendations<\/strong>: Situated in the southern part of Mehedinti County, on the left bank of the Danube River, the commune attests since 1667, when Eliza Cantacuzino left, by will, half from the village of Gruia, to Dr\u0103ghici Cantacuzino. This document is the first documentary attestation of the settlement from the Danube`s riverbank. In the past, Gruia was the residence of the 5th`s respectively 8th`s Company, Doroban\u021bi Mehedin\u021bi. Until 1916, the people in these places were working in a glass factory, but in time it was abolished. Today, in the former port of Gruia the nature offers a wild show, with views similar to those of the Danube Delta, with puddles and wild ducks, willows and small grives, designed to delight the eyes of the tourists who came in the area. Also in the area, fishing lovers can enjoy a sport match.<\/p>\n
