These are the gates between two culturally and economically important parts of the world, between the lower and middle Danube region.The total area covered by the park is 63.608 hectares, and the protected region covers 93.968 hectares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Djerdap, the Iron Gates, has been a challenge for travelers, merchants, warriors and peace makers for thousands of years. These are the gates between two culturally and economically important parts of the world, between the lower and middle Danube region. Djerdap has always been a naturally important strategic place, in war as well as in peace. On its area there are a number of historical monuments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is also a national park here that is always described with superlatives: the most beautiful national park and a park with the oldest geological history in Europe, the longest valley in Europe, the oldest chasm in Europe where Danube is narrowest and deepest, the biggest natural archeological museum in Europe, the oldest Neolithic habitation, the largest number of historical monuments from the Roman era. The main characteristic of the park is a vast wooded area ( over 64% ) and a rich and diverse flora, fauna, geomorphologic forms and the cultural and historic riches dating from the ancient times. Around 9% ( 5.500 hectares ) of the park covers the river Danube making the \u0110erdap National Park a River Park. The Danube valley is made of three valleys and canyons: Goluba\u010dka, Gospo\u0111in Vir and Big and Small chasm and three basins: Ljupkovska, Donjomilanova\u010dka and Or\u0161avska.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/promehedinti.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/1-7-9.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6374\"
